With show season beginning, the entry fee expenses are increasing. We went to two barrel races in April, which added up to about three hours of total driving. For the first shows we stayed pretty close to home. The entry fees for the first show included three exhibition runs and a ring fee, for a total of $12. The second show was $15, one exhibition and the open class. I also paid my final payment for the slot race that will be at the end of July.

We had a second vet appointment to get our yearly shots and Coggins. We didn’t have to haul anywhere for this appointment, but the farm call was split between my aunt and I.

This month had a bunch of miscellaneous expenses. I got a new bottle of fly spray and dewormer from the tack store, refilled Stinger’s electrolyte supplement, and paid for our next load of sawdust. We get a trailer load of sawdust at a time and alternate who pays, this month was my turn, and it will last us a couple months.

1st Quarter Recap

Now that we are four months into 2024, I wanted to put together a little recap to show which categories were the most expensive. Considering that we only actually went to two shows, the entry fee category is higher than I expected because I was making payments for the slot race. Following closely in third, is feed/supplements, which is lower than anticipated.
