May Expenses

We got to go to the first rodeo of the year in May! Plus, we went to two other barrel races this month. My aunt and I split gas, so I paid gas on the way home from the rodeo and on the way home from one of the barrel races. The rodeo and barrel race were in the same area, about 2.5 hours away. The other barrel race is the closest we can get, about 10 minutes down the road. The rodeo entry fee was $50. The first barrel race, I entered the open class for $40. Although, I also had to pay a grounds fee, office fee, and processing fee (we pre-entered online) for an extra $12.80. The second barrel race I paid for three exhibitions, $5 each.

We technically went to two other barrel races this month, but I did not enter them. More will be explained in the next post. This added another 110 miles and about 3 hours of driving. I did not include these shows in the totals at the bottom.

Feed expenses were low this month, I bought 4 bags for $88. May also brought another farrier visit for Stinger’s shoes to be reset. As we get closer to summer, we are getting ready to make hay. We have spent a couple days moving old hay from last year and selling as much as we could to make room for this year’s crop.

This month’s expenses weren’t very exciting, but I think that is a good thing! Although we did end up driving for almost 12 hours and 500 miles.
