July was an unexpected month as you will see in the next post, so it makes sense that the expenses follow suit. We went to a jackpot and rodeo over the fourth of July weekend, but I was also entered in two other rodeos that we ended up turning out of. I still had to pay these entry fees even though we didn’t run. It was also time to send in our entries for the county fair. The total of $212 includes our camper spot for the week, grounds fee of $5 and entry fee of $2 per class as well as $10 for my lanyard pass to get in the gates. Gas for my half of these trips was $93.38.

Time spent driving is a little different to calculate this time. On the trip home from the New York rodeo, it was completely dark, raining, and a curvy road. So while it only took about 3.5 hours to get there, we got home in 5 hours. The drive to the jackpot was shorter at 1.25 hours each way.

Back to the feed mill again, for another two bags of feed for $44. This month we had one session on PEMF therapy for $50.
By far the biggest expense this month was… a new saddle. My old one was not working for what I needed so after finding an in-stock model of the one I wanted, I impulse bought it. It wasn’t my first choice in color, but after seeing it in person I actually really like it. Plus, it matches the bridle I already owned perfectly. The total with shipping and tax came out to $3075.

We had a lot of miles and hours in the truck this month and it was all within two days. Of course, the saddle purchase wasn’t expected, but everything else is similar to previous months.
