September Expenses

The month of September brings the fair. Since the entries were due in July, everything was already paid for except the fun show. I only spent $20 for four classes. I even placed in one of them, but we only won ribbons. I did place in some of the regular fair classes, but the premium checks won’t be mailed until October/November. We also got 1st place on our stall decorations! We only drove to the fair and back this month, only about 15 minutes away, which is why I listed that we only went to one ‘barrel race.’ We actually showed three days, and one day had a double show.

Stinger had a short massage session during fair week, that also included some targeted laser therapy for his stifles. There was a ‘fair special’ so it was only $60. Stinger seemed to really enjoy it and almost fell asleep.

As we went home from the fair we had to have a visit from the vet. Stinger didn’t deal with the dust from the fair very well and needed a quick checkup. He had some bloodwork done to check for an infection, but everything was negative, and his cough cleared up in a couple days after using the nebulizer.

I also had to buy some lumber for our barn rehab project and Stinger got his shoes reset again. Along with another two bags of feed, this month turned out to be cheaper than some others recently.

3rd Quarter Recap

It’s time for the third quarter update! The tack and supplies category takes the lead for the last three months due to my new saddle. Entry fees, vet bills, and farm supplies are all within $75 of each other for second. Overall, it was an unexpectedly expensive three months.
