April brought showers and our first rodeo! We went to an open rodeo for slack, with an entry fee of $50. It was about a 1.5 drive to get to the rodeo. Then we made our way to a local show, less than 15 minutes away. I signed up for year-end points ($15) and entered two barrel classes. We also paid our social membership at our local saddle club so we could haul in for practice for $50.

Reno and Stinger both got their teeth floated this month, I included this cost under the vet bill category. It was also both of their birthdays, so I got them each a bag of treats. I had coupons from buying the corral panels last month, so they ended up being free.

I restocked on my gastric supplement and bought 8 bags of feed. Even though it’s only April, the flies are back. I got a new bottle of fly spray and Reno got a flysheet and fly boots. Now he can be all matchy matchy with Stinger. I also had to get him a new clip to replace the broken one on his halter.

This month was time to make the third payment on my insurance for Reno, but I paid the last two installments at the same time so it’s now paid off. I also made another payment on the loan for Reno. I’m just glad this was a less expensive month than March.
